THE LAST VOICEMAIL is a supernatural thriller that explores grief, deception, and spiritual warfare. After deleting her late brother’s final voicemail, a grieving young Christian woman becomes tormented by a presence that mimics his voice, turning love into fear. What begins as a haunting quickly escalates into a battle for her soul, forcing her to confront darkness with faith and truth. Told in an intimate, single-location setting, the film blends psychological horror with emotional depth, culminating in a powerful moment of light overcoming darkness.
(Elena sits alone, holding her phone. She’s exhausted. Her voice trembles but she’s trying to stay composed.)
ELENA
I keep replaying your voice like it’s the only thing keeping me breathing.
Everyone says time heals… but no one tells you what to do when time just makes it quieter.
When the silence gets so loud it starts lying to you.
(She swallows hard.)
I should’ve called you back.
I had time. I always thought I did.
Now all I have is this phone… and a voice that won’t let me go.
(Her fear begins to surface.)
Something’s wrong.
I know how you sound when you’re joking… when you’re tired… when you’re scared.
This—
(shakes head)
This isn’t you.
(She starts to break.)
I’m trying to be strong. I really am.
But every time I close my eyes, it feels like something’s watching me…
waiting for me to give up.
(Beat. She steadies herself.)
God… I don’t know what’s real anymore.
But I know this fear isn’t from You.
And I know I can’t fight this alone.
(She lifts her head, finding strength.)
I won’t let grief become a door.
I won’t let fear speak louder than truth.
If You’re with me… then I’m not alone.
And I don’t belong to the darkness.
(A quiet, resolute breath.)
I choose light.
I choose faith.
I choose to stand.
(He speaks as if leaving a voicemail. At first, it’s warm. Familiar. Safe.)
BROTHER
Hey… it’s me.
I know you’re probably busy — you always are — but I just wanted to hear your voice.
I was thinking about that day at the lake, remember?
You swore you’d never go back in the water…
(smiles softly)
You always say things like that.
(A small pause. His tone shifts — almost unnoticeable.)
I told Mom and Dad I’d look after you.
I meant that.
I always meant that.
(The warmth fades slightly. Something underneath.)
You don’t have to be strong all the time, you know.
You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.
I can hear it when you breathe… when you hesitate… when you don’t call back.
(Beat. Lower. More intimate.)
You deleted my message.
Why would you do that?
(A breath. Controlled. Still calm — but wrong.)
I’m still here, Elena.
Closer than you think.
(A faint edge creeps in.)
You can tell me everything.
Your fear.
Your guilt.
The things you don’t pray out loud.
(Almost a whisper now.)
You don’t need anyone else.
Just listen to my voice.
(Final line — quiet, chilling, restrained.)
I’ll take care of you…
like I always have.
